Welcome
Festival in a Box brings customs of the bible alive as exciting home traditions for families, friends and church families.

We’re devoted to guiding believers to love God’s Word through a Christian understanding of New Testament traditions and the cultural context in which Jesus lived.

In turn, Christian communities become stronger and flourish with a foundation in faith, biblical history, purpose in life, and value as children of God.

Welcome!

Who were the first century Christians and what was the context of their culture and daily life? The answer to an outsider living at the time would be, "they're Jewish!" This time of year they would have been counting the days and weeks leading up to Shavuot.

Although there was some debate as to when the yearly counting started, because of the wording of instruction (Leviticus 23:15), we stick to the prevalent thought during the second temple period. This coincides with the Christian celebration of Pentecost this year but is not the schedule counted within Judaism today. The period is often referred to as the counting of the Omer. An omer is an ancient unit of measurement; the amount of manna each person collected daily for forty years in the desert after the Exodus. (Ex. 16:16). It’s a good reminder. As we continue to celebrate the spring festival season, we are reminded that all we need is provided by the Lord. Hallelujah!
